PINK OUT NIGHT - THANKS WPIAL!!
10/30/2009 - Don Rebel
The MSA Sports Network along with Mount Lebanon High School and over 70 WPIAL schools joined together for a Pink Out Night on Friday, October 30th as a great way to conclude Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Mount Lebanon High School hosted the “Pink Out Game” against Upper St. Clair in football on Friday. Their plan was to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. This idea was developed by one of their cheerleaders – Ellese Meyer. Unfortunately, Ellese lost her mother to breast cancer this past year and she wanted to do a special project in her memory.
Mount Lebanon passed out pink ribbons to their fans, their football team wore a pink ribbon sticker on the back of the helmets, their student section wore pink t-shirts and cheerleaders from both schools collected donations for the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Foundation. http://www.youngwomensbreastcancerfoundation.com/about-us.html
74 schools from around the WPIAL also committed to this project. “This speaks volumes for the terrific people that we have involved in athletics across the WPIAL!" said Grogan. "Again, thank you!”
All of the MSA Sports Network broadcasters were clad in their pink t-shirts on Friday night as well.
You can STILL get involved as much as possible. If you choose to collect funds at your event, you can send the proceeds to:
Young Women's Breast Cancer Foundation 213 Fox Run Drive Venetia, PA 15367
The contact at the foundation is Jen Kehm and her number is 412.389.0488 if you need any further information concerning the foundation. If you have any other questions, please contact John Grogan at JGrogan@mtlsd.net
