PIAA GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS: The Path to Penn State 3/10/2010 Don Rebel It was a good night for district teams as the Path to Penn State tipped off for the girls. Five WPIAL teams hit the hardwood on Tuesday night and all five were victorious and will now advance to the opening round of the state playoffs this weekend. Allderdice finally won gold after losing twice in the past four years as they beat Oliver to capture the first boys title in 22 years. Meanwhile, Westinghouse three year hold on the City League girls crown ended when the Bulldogs were edged by the Perry Commodores. Lebanon Outslugs Gateway, Joins Girls as WPIAL AAAA Champs 3/6/2010 Sam Hall Mount Lebanon High school became just the eighth high school in WPIAL history to win both the boys and girls basketball championships in the same season Saturday night when the Blue Devils boys’ team defeated the Gateway Gators in the championship weekend finale at Duquesne University’s A.J. Lebanon Wins Second Straight WPIAL Girls Title in Win Over Baldwin 3/6/2010 Mike Azadian After winning the first two games over the Baldwin Highlanders earlier this year, the Mount Lebanon Blue Devils looked to make it three in a row over their section rival but this time in the WPIAL AAAA Girls Championship at the AJ Palumbo Center on the campus of Duquesne University. It wasn’t as easy as the first two meetings were but they came away with a 59-43 victory to win their 2nd straight AAAA WPIAL title, and 46th consecutive win over WPIAL competition. continue reading "Mt.
