PITTSBURGH, PA - September 3, 2008 - The 2008-9 MSA Sports season is the 10th year of Western PA high school sports broadcasts to the entire world over the Internet, as well as football games over 30+ local radio stations. MSA Sports Network, originally named NSN Sports Network, was founded by Nauticom in 1999 to audio stream high school sports through their website and also broadcast live over local radio stations. MSA began operating the Network in the Spring of 2001 and renamed the Network "MSA Sports" in 2004. MSA Sports teams with the WPIAL to broadcast high school sports as well as to encourage high school athletes to do their best not only in sports but also in their academics and contributions to their communities. "MSA Sports Student Spotlight" highlights star student athletes by commending them on their performance on and off the field.
MSA Sports provides an opportunity for high school alumni, family and friends to continue to be in touch with their favorite high school teams by using their computers logged in to www.MSASportsNetwork.com. The Network has had emails of thanks from as far away as soldiers in Iraq & Korea, and listeners in Australia.
"We are delighted with the growth of the MSA Sports Network audience over the years," said Cathy Opsitnick, President and CEO of MSA, a Pittsburgh-based firm. "It is a pleasure to work with a first-class athletic association like WPIAL and the 200 school communities in the Tri-State area for whom we provide coverage. We are also pleased to be able to offer this growing, unique audience to our advertisers." Opsitnick continued, "The events are the key draw for our audience and advertisers, but over and above the athletic skills displayed every week, MSA is pleased to help promote the importance of the life skills these student athletes and their supporters, as well as student broadcasters and high school and college students working behind the scenes, gain by teamwork, hard work, and striving for goals, and good sportsmanship. These skills and learning are critically important to all of us, and MSA is happy to help foster such skills and values."
Don Rebel, MSA Sports Network Operations Manager, is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable broadcasters in Western PA High School sports. Rebel states, "We have worked hard over the last decade to become the leading source for high school sports in Western Pennsylvania. I appreciate the support MSA has given the Sports Network in allowing us to promote all of these young student-athletes through their scholastic sports years. It has been and continues to be a pleasure to broadcast high school sports, and all of us look forward to doing much more here at the MSA Sports Network during our next decade."
